Allan Donald is in the frame for a coaching job in the new set-up at Yorkshire with an international cast showing interest in the roles.

Applications for the head coach and other coaching positions closed this week and Donald is understood to be in the running to be one of two assistants.

Ottis Gibson, currently bowling coach of Bangladesh, and Essex’s Anthony McGrath are of interest to the club for the main job following the mass sacking of the coaching staff last month.

However, there is strong pedigree when it comes to the support staff positions as managing director of cricket Darren Gough attempts to put together a unit to replace the previous regime fronted by Martyn Moxon and Andrew Gale.

Donald, 55, is currently head coach of the Knights franchise in his native South Africa but has previously worked within the coaching teams of Warwickshire and Kent and also spent four months on a fast bowling consultancy with England in 2007.

Stuart Law, the Australian sacked by Middlesex with one year remaining on his contract in October, is thought to be another potential option.
