In the early hours of Sunday morning, West Midlands Police were called to an address in Earlsdon Avenue North on Sunday morning to conduct a safe and well check on a man and child. Officers were called to the scene since just before 12.20am.

A man inside the property refused to come out and specialist officers were dispatched.

Armed police arrived at the scene by 3.15pm on Sunday and residents were told to stay inside their homes.

As the standoff continues on Monday, residents have been trapped inside their homes for nearly 30 hours as police continue their investigations.

One local said: “We have just been told to continue with the stay indoors, can’t leave advice.”
