The England cricket squad’s plans were momentarily thrown into chaos after being dealt a Covid-19 scare during the third Test of the Ashes, following the identification of a positive case in the family group.
A statement was released on Sunday night, Boxing Day, in which England Cricket outlined that a positive case of Covid-19 had been recorded in the family group.
Joe Root’s side were forced to anxiously wait on rapid flow results for the entire team, before learning that all lateral flows had returned negative and permission was granted to travel to the MCG.
A brief statement read: ‘The England team and management are currently at the team hotel awaiting results of RFT COVID tests following a positive test in the team’s family group.
‘We will provide more information in due course.’
