The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is putting together opposition research files on more than 20 potential contenders for the Republican nomination in 2024 — from former President Donald Trump to My Pillow founder Mike Lindell, Politico reported on Tuesday.

Others who are part of the DNC’s research efforts were identified by The Hill as former Vice President Mike Pence; Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis; former South Carolina governor and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley; former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo; Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), and Rick Scott (R-Fla.); and Fox News primetime host Tucker Carlson.

Democratic researchers have identified no fewer than 49 Republicans who could run for the White House in 2024, Politico said.

The size of the Republican primary field is likely to be contingent on whether Trump attempts to regain the office he lost to Joe Biden in 2020. On Tuesday, Trump teased the possibility once again in an interview with Daily Wire host Candace Owens.

“I’m absolutely enthused,” Trump said. “I look forward to doing an announcement at the right time. As you know, it’s very early. But I think people are going to be very, very happy when I make a certain announcement.

“You know, for campaign finance reasons, you really can’t do it too early because it becomes a whole different thing,” the former president added. “Otherwise, I’d give you an answer that I think you’d be very happy with. So, we are looking at that very, very seriously, and all I’d say is stay tuned.”
