Just four months after returning to his native Brazil, Diego Costa became a Serie A champion after he and strike partner Hulk fired Atletico Mineiro to their first title in five decades.

A few days later, the Brazilian side completed the domestic double as a dominant 6-1 win on aggregate over Athletico Paranaense saw them lift the Copa do Brasil.

Costa joined mid-season and made his contribution to the glory after not playing for the majority of 2021.

The 33-year-old chipped in with a haul of four goals in 15 league games, as well as scoring in their cup semi-final win over Fortaleza.
