Canadian rapper Drake lost a staggering $275,000 after betting on Jorge Masvidal to defeat former teammate Colby Covington at UFC 272.

The odds for Drake’s specific punt were unclear, but Covington started a general 2/7 favourite with Masvidal the 5/2 underdog.

Watching the UFC 272 broadcast on his laptop, Drake can been seen placing the huge bet on Masvidal.

But Covington outpointed his former teammate over five rounds securing the win with scores of 49-46, 50-44 and 50-45.

Dustin Poirier, who will take on Masvidal in his next fight, mocked Drake after he lost the six-figure bet at the post-fight press conference.

‘Let’s talk about all the money that Drake lost tonight, he needs to go back to selling those s***** albums to get back the money,’ Covington said.

‘He should have went to America’s pick of the week by my bookie, I’m America’s champ and I was America’s pick of the week. Drake you suck at sports betting go back to your s***** little albums and rapping.’

Masvidal claimed it was one of the worst performances as a fighter along with insults towards his opponent Covington, with the pair having to be separated by security ring side whilst both awaited the judges score cards.

‘I wrestled like s***,’ said Masvidal in his post-fight press conference.

‘That first takedown I gave up, he took my back, he rode me pretty good.

‘I felt like on the feet I definitely did more damage. I didn’t pounce after I dropped him [in the fourth round]. I thought he was gonna shoot [for a takedown], I was thinking of the wrong s***.

‘That was my chance right there, to make a sprint and maybe make it a 10-8 or 10-7 round.

‘He’s a b***h. The b***h can wrestle, though.’
