Elche 0-0 (1-2 AET) Real Madrid: Carlo Ancelotti’s 10-man side stage thrilling extra-time fightback as Isco and Eden Hazard fire Los Blancos into quarter-finals of Copa del Rey

  • Real Madrid entered Copa del Rey clash fresh off their Spanish Super Cup win
  • Los Blancos were frustrated and the lack of Karim Benzema up front hurt them
  • Elche had three clear chances in the first half but failed to take any of them 
  • Game went to extra time and Real were dealt a blow with Marcelo’s red card
  • Elche then scored but Isco and Eden Hazard struck back to earn the win 


Isco and Eden Hazard bailed Real Madrid out after it looked as though they were heading for a shock Copa del Rey exit. 

The 90 minutes finished at 0-0 and the drama started in extra time with Marcelo dismissed and Elche taking the lead. 

But Carlo Ancelotti’s men fought back admirable and goals from Isco and Hazard have seen them through to the quarter finals…
