Corrections & clarifications: In a previous version of this story, a photo misidentified Suni Lee.
Sunisa Lee is a key member of the United State’s women’s gymnastics team that won silver after Simone Biles unexpectedly withdrew from the team competition. Lee had a standout performance at the U.S. Olympic Trials, finishing second in the all-around behind Simone Biles.
Lee is a rising star, particularly on the uneven bars, where she has the most-difficult routine in the world. But she’s strong on the other three events as well, actually outscoring Biles on the second day of competition at trials.
She is also a top medal contender in the individual all-around competition.
