It will be the first time that the Three Lions have played on the opening day since the year they won the World Cup at home in 1966.

England will then play USA on November 25, with either a potential home nations clash, or otherwise facing Ukraine, on November 29.

The squad’s captain Harry Kane led the reactions as the Three Lions hope to go one better than their losing effort in the final at Euro 2020 last year.

His Man City team-mate Kyle Walker meanwhile, told BBC 5 Live Sport that the team knows how to manage games now.

He said: ‘I think we expect as a group of players what we’ve achieved and delivered over the last number of years.

‘The boss said four years ago back at the World Cup we was inexperienced at winning in tournament football.

‘Now coming into the Nations League and on the back of the Euros what we achieved. A lot of the players now have won Champions Leagues, Premier Leagues and stuff like that.

‘We know how to win games and how to manage games now. It’s about us as a group of players. That’s not just the eleven on the field but everyone on the bench to help get us over that line really.
