On Sunday, Kate celebrates turning 40 after a decade as a member of the Royal Family. To mark her milestone birthday, Samir Hussein, a multi-award-winning royal and entertainment photographer, shared 40 images he’s taken of the Duchess of Cambridge during that time.
He launched the countdown to the royal’s milestone on Thursday (January 6) by posting the first 10 images to his Instagram account.
The first image in the carousel shows the Duchess holding an umbrella, as she braved the wet and windy weather in 2017 to mark the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death at her former home, Kensington Palace.
Gardens at the palace were transformed in Diana’s honour, featuring flowers and foliage that reflect her life and paid homage to her style and work.
Another photograph dates back to Kate and William’s royal tour of Pakistan in 2019.
The snap is from the couple’s visit to Lahore’s Badshahi Mosque, where Kate donned a green shalwar kameez by Maheen Khan, paired with a matching headscarf.
A further picture in the initial section features Kate holding a young Princess Charlotte in her arms.
The snap shows Kate gazing fondly at Charlotte, aged one at the time, during the Cambridges royal tour of Canada.
The image was also shared to mark Charlotte’s sixth birthday in May last year.
Samir described the image as “one of my favourites of her”.

User khnmeher complimented the photographer and the Duchess writing: “She encapsulates all the qualities of a perfect woman. A rarity in today’s day and age.”
Another, karjoysic, added: “She is so photogenic and these photos capture so much of her personality!! Love them.”
Further social media posts by the photographer also include snaps from the couple’s big day in 2011, showing Kate’s timeless wedding dress which was designed by Sarah Burton of British fashion brand Alexander McQueen.
Others show the royal accompanied by her children at her sister Pippa’s wedding in May 2017.
One image shows the Duchess in her glittering gold Jenny Packham cape dress at the James Bond No Time to Die premiere in November.
Some fans speculated that the snaps being shared could prelude special image of the Duchess released to mark her birthday milestone.
Senior members of the Royal Family normally release pictures to mark key dates.
For William and Kate’s 10th anniversary last April, they shared two new images of themselves taken at their London home.
However, Kate’s 39th birthday was not marked with a never-before-seen photograph.
Instead, on her birthday Kensington Palace released a picture of Kate taken during a royal engagement alongside a sombre message of thanks amid a Covid enforced lockdown.
It read: “Thank you for your kind wishes on The Duchess’ birthday.
“Birthdays have been very different in recent months, and our thoughts continue to be with all those working on the front line at this hugely challenging time.”
