Born in Spain, Garancho was previously at Atletico Madrid’s academy before joining United in October 2020. He has been capped by Spain at youth level but was recently called up at senior level by Argentina, who he is eligible to represent through his mother.

Garnacho, who usually plays on the left flank, has scored three times for United in Premier League 2 this season, while he also made an impact in the UEFA Youth League and the FA Youth Cup.

An injury to Fred, who is out with a muscle problem, is set to allow Garnacho the chance to be part of the matchday squad, with the prospect having arrived at The Lowry Hotel on Friday with the rest of the team.

United also have other injury issues to contend with as Raphael Varane, Scott McTominay, Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw are set to be absent again.

Rangnick’s team go into the game in seventh place in the table, six points adrift of Tottenham, who are fourth.

A win is crucial for United, who subsequently have games away to Liverpool and and Arsenal.
