‘Cristiano are you ok?’: Nemanja Matic pokes fun at Manchester United icon Ronaldo after Portuguese star loses unbeaten streak in training ground tie

  • Nemanja Matic took great pleasure in poking fun at Cristiano Ronaldo in training
  • In recent weeks Ronaldo has shared photos of himself on the ‘winning team’
  • After defeating Ronaldo’s training side Matic called him out online
  • The Red Devils are looking to get back to winning ways against Newcastle

Nemanja Matic had no issue with poking the ego of Cristiano Ronaldo this week, after taunting Manchester United’s talisman for losing in training.

Followers of Ronaldo on social media will have noticed his regular image posts from United’s Carrington base, showing himself with team-mates often along with the caption ‘winning team.’

So, when Matic guided a side to victory over Ronaldo this week the Serbian star certainly made a point of letting him know.

Spirits are high in the United camp, after the senior stars returned to full training following a heavy schedule disruption due to a Covid-19 outbreak, which resulted in the training headquarters being closed for 24 hours.

Uploading a squad photo, Matic and his fellow stars could be seen punching the air or holding arms aloft in celebration.

Captioning the image, which he published for his two million followers to see, Matic added: ‘Winning team! @Cristiano are you ok?’ along with a laughing face.

Portugal superstar Ronaldo is well known for his fearsomely competitive nature, and the high benchmark he sets in every training session.

United were forced to close ranks at the end of last week, with a spike in positive Covid-19 tests causing back-to-back Premier League cancellations.

Fixtures against Brentford and Brighton were postponed, with players forced to train from home until the outbreak was under control.

Now, the Red Devils are back to the grind and looking to return to action on Boxing Day against Premier League strugglers Newcastle.

The Magpies have won just one match all season, and run the real risk of relegation – despite being taken over by Saudi Arabian owners and becoming the wealthiest club on the planet as a result.
