Aubameyang and Mings have faced off on five occasions in total since the West Midlands side was promoted to the Premier League in 2019.

Mings has been on the winning side in three of those matches in which he also helped keep a clean sheet.

The other two games saw Aubameyang find the back of the net in victories for Arsenal, including their 3-1 win at the Emirates back in November.

There was also a famous moment between the pair in Aston Villa’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal during Project Restart back in July 2020.

In the passage of play leading up to Trezeguet’s winner, Aubameyang was spotted in close-up footage laughing and joking with Mings.

The Aston Villa man then caught him napping as the defender raced ahead of him to get a flick-on.

Fans fumed at Aubameyang’s error with one suggesting that the ‘U17’s wouldn’t fall’ for Mings’ distraction.
