The sisters were joined by their husbands, babies and Sarah Ferguson for the trip after Christmas to Swiss resort Verbier, where the Duke of York has a chalet. However, Beatrice and Eugenie reportedly had to settle for daily Skype talks with their father, who was absent from the skiing break.

According to the Sunday Mirror, the Duke was advised against going on holiday while he is facing a civil sex lawsuit, which he denies.

The newspaper cited a source as saying: “Beatrice and Eugenie were both very upset because they were hoping their children would be able to spend their first ski holiday with their grandad and the entire family.

“Sadly it wasn’t to be, but they did hold Skype calls with their father nearly every day while they were in Verbier so that they could support him and he could see the grandchildren on holiday.”

Andrew was reportedly due to fly out with the group but changed his mind after his team advised him it would be “inappropriate” to be seen on holiday while the case is ongoing.

Beatrice was joined by her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, their daughter Sienna – who was born in September – and Edo’s son Wolfie.

Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank also brought their young son August, who turns one next month, along.

The Duchess of York was no doubt delighted to spend the time with her two grandchildren.

The group were spotted out and about on the slopes during the ski trip.

Andrew’s lawyer said about the claim for damages brought by Ms Giuffre: “It is unfair, it is unjust, it should be dismissed.”

Judge Lewis A Kaplan, who is presiding over the case, told the parties that he would have a decision “very soon”.

Ms Giuffre is suing the Queen’s son for allegedly sexually assaulting her when she was a teenager.

She is seeking unspecified damages, but there is speculation the sum could be millions of dollars.

She claims she was trafficked by Epstein to have sex with Andrew when she was aged 17 and a minor under US law.

The Duke has denied all the allegations.
