Royal biographer and expert Angela Levin appeared on GB News to share her reaction to Prince Andrew’s “settlement in principle” with Virginia Giuffre. Ms Levin was asked what ramifications the case will have on the Royal Family with the royal expert wondering whether the Queen got involved and gave Prince Andrew a dressing down to fix the situation. The royal commentator added the Royal Family will hope it puts a line under the situation and can move away from it “at the end of the month”.

Speaking on GB News, Ms Levin was asked if she thought the reputation of Prince Andrew or the Royal Family could recover following the settlement.

Upon reading the statements, Ms Levin said: “I think it sounds remarkably humble, which is not something that we expect from Prince Andrew.

“Why that is, I’m not sure but I wonder if the Queen now she’s well gave him a boll***ing.

“And said you’re not going to spoil my Platinum Jubilee, I’m the only person who’s ever reached this and you’ve just got to sort it out.

“I don’t want salacious things happening when I’m trying to enjoy myself during the Jubilee she’s the only one I think should really give him a telling off, she’s very matronly with him.

“Perhaps he decided that but it is a great relief, I think, because it would have rambled on and that would have taken the headlines all the time.

“And goodness knows what could have come up at the other end.”

Ms Levin suggested Ms Giuffre “got what she wanted” in the settlement as she was given an undisclosed amount of money for her charity.

While the amount has not been disclosed, legal commentator Joshua Rozenberg believes it would be “a very large sum of money”.

Author Nigel Cawthorne pondered who would pay the settlement as he remarked Prince Andrew was “not a wealthy man”.

A statement from the two partys’ lawyers read: “Virginia Giuffre and Prince Andrew have reached an out-of-court settlement.

“The parties will file a stipulated dismissal upon Ms Giuffre’s receipt of the settlement (the sum of which is not being disclosed).

“Prince Andrew intends to make a substantial donation to Ms Giuffre’s charity in support of victims’ rights.

“Prince Andrew has never intended to malign Ms Giuffre’s character, and he accepts that she has suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks.

“It is known that Jeffrey Epstein trafficked countless young girls over many years. Prince Andrew regrets his association with Epstein and commends the bravery of Ms Giuffre and other survivors in standing up for themselves and others.

“He pledges to demonstrate his regret for his association with Epstein by supporting the fight against the evils of sex trafficking, and by supporting its victims.”

Buckingham Palace has refused to comment and the Duke of York says he will not expand beyond the statement filed with courts.

Virginia Giuffre’s lawyer David Boies commented: “I believe this event speaks for itself.”
