The Platinum Jubilee – June
There will be year-long Platinum Jubilee celebrations throughout the UK, the Commonwealth and around the world as communities gather to celebrate 70 years of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign.
Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British monarch ever to celebrate this key milestone, with celebrations set to commemorate the 95-year-old’s remarkable achievements since she took the throne in 1952 at just 25 years of age.
While celebrations will begin from the offset of 2022 the first weekend of June will see the bulk of the parades, lunches, and services to commemorate the event.
Richard said: “The Platinum Jubilee will be completely unique in our history. I think it will be a wonderful rallying point for the nation and also an opportunity, of course, to commemorate the Queen’s amazing reign.”
The Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend will take place from Thursday, June 2 to Sunday June 5, with the following events expected to take place:
- The Queen’s Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour), June 2
- Platinum Jubilee Beacons, June 2
- Service of thanksgiving, June 3
- The Derby at Epsom Downs, June 4
- Platinum Party at the Palace, June 4
- The Platinum Jubilee Pageant, June 5
