Royal expert Richard Eden also highlighted how Prince Harry has not been elevated to the nation’s most prestigious order of chivalry, of which a number of royals including Prince William are members. Mr Eden tweeted: “Fascinating move by the Queen as many thought Camilla would have to wait until Prince Charles was King to join the most senior order of chivalry. Prince Harry is not a member #royal #orderofthegarter.”
However, Mr Eden’s tweet sparked a mixed response from other Twitter users with some referring to Harry’s decision to quit the Firm, a move dubbed Megxit.
Royal expert Marlene Koenig replied: “She is the second spouse of the heir to be made a member of the order. Precedent set in 1947. No need to mention Harry.”
Another Twitter user, @judestrios, commented: “Not everything needs to be referred to Prince Harry. Prince Charles’ brothers were appointed until they were considerably older than Prince Harry is now. Since he is no longer serving the Crown, it’s doubtful it will even be considered for him.”
Meanwhile, @Taxa12060811, said: “He mentioned Harry because he’s the only one from his father, stepmother and William not to be. My money is on Catherine getting one from Charles and William eventually giving Harry one.”
Sparking a Megxit row, user @chappy4151 said: “He left the Royal Family. Why include him?”
But another Twitter user, Barbara Piper Green, said: “Prince Harry is living the life he wants. Leave him to it.”
