Beatrice Cardenas, who is running for California’s 28th Congressional District, claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s “two-year tantrum” was “finally over”. She also claimed the couple, who are living in California after quitting royal duties in 2020, had “overestimated their popularity”.
Reacting to the news the Sussexes had made a fleeting visit to Britain, Ms Cardenas tweeted: “Looks like their two-year-long tantrum is finally over and they can finally humble themselves knowing they overestimated their popularity.”
Harry and Meghan’s surprise visit, completed en route to the Invictus Games in The Hague, to see the Queen and Prince Charles comes after their highly publicised criticism of the royals.
The Sussexes have not been in the UK together since they ended royal duties.
It comes after they were absent from Prince Philip’s memorial service at Westminster Abbey last month.
