Royal frenzy as Albert's illegitimate children pose with Charlene's twins for first time

Prince Albert of Monaco discusses his mother in 2012

A photograph showing Albert and Princess Charlene’s seven-year-old twins Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella posing with their half-siblings was revealed on social media on New Year’s Eve. Jazmin Grimaldi, daughter of Prince Albert of Monaco, 63, shared the sweet snap in a 2021 round-up video on Instagram, along with well-wishes for the New Year.

It is thought to be the first time Albert’s four children have been photographed together.

29-year-old Jazmin is the Prince’s illegitimate daughter with Tamara Rotolo, 60.

In the photo, Jazmin is pictured with half-brother Alexandre Grimaldi-Coste, 18, Albert’s son with flight attendant Nicole Coste, and they pose alongside Albert’s and Charlene’s twins.

The snap shows the group sitting outside on a bench, but the whereabouts of the photo is not specified.

California-based Jazmin, whose mother met Albert on the Côte d’Azur, wears jeans and a crop top, with her hair in pigtails in the photograph.

She has one arm around her half-brother Alexandre, who is wearing basketball shorts and a T-shirt, and the other around young Gabriella.

Jazmin, a trained opera singer, first met her father aged 11, and when commenting on the experience in 2015, she described their bond as “great”.

At the time, she said: “I wanted that moment to connect with my father, to get to know him, and to have him get to know me.

“Not having had that figure around, I missed that. It’s wonderful that it happened when it did, and we’ve been enjoying a great relationship ever since.”

She also has a particularly close relationship with her half-brother Alexandre and marked his 18th birthday in a sweet Instagram post, captioned “It’s a celebration. Happy birthday my little brother Alexandre!”

The image comes as Princess Charlene, 43, continues to receive treatment at an undisclosed European facility for “emotional and physical exhaustion”.

Her husband revealed that she had been admitted to a “treatment facility” after it became “evident she was unwell” within hours of her return to Monaco in October.

The Monegasque royal had spent 10 months apart from her family, as she had been recovering from a severe ear, nose and throat (ENT) infection in her native South Africa.

Due to her ill health, Charlene went without seeing her two children and her husband.

Owing to her ill health, Charlene missed the seventh birthday of her twins and her 10 year anniversary with Albert.

The twins’ special day was marked by the Princess on her social media account, where she shared three pictures showing the twins in matching pyjamas while posing in a room full of colourful balloons and decorations.

In November, Jacques and Gabriella shared just how much they had missed their mother during celebrations for The National Day of Monaco.

The twins joined their father on the balcony of Monaco Palace and clutched signs reading “We miss you Mommy” during the principality’s celebrations.
