From Thursday, face coverings will no longer be a requirement in England, however, in Scotland, restrictions have only just been eased on hospitality venues, with Sturgeon suggesting that the face mask mandate could be in place for years to come. The Scottish Conservatives have called on Ms Sturgeon to “end the mixed messaging coming out of the Scottish Government by listening to their advisors and ending the restriction immediately”. However, the Scottish First Minister told the BBC: “I don’t want any of these measures to be in place for any longer than is necessary. “But masks… are something we can do. “None of us enjoy wearing them but they are perhaps not the biggest handicap to endure in order to try to stem transmission.”
