Tex Walker’s agent was reportedly involved in a heated altercation with a fan during the Adelaide star’s return to the AFL, prompting an AFL official to intervene at Marvel Stadium.

Walker, 31, was the recipient of a hostile welcome after returning to senior footy for the first time after serving a six-game suspension for aiming a racist slur at an opponent during a SANFL game last August.

And according to Footy Classified’s Caroline Wilson, Walker’s agent, Craig Kelly, became embroiled in a confrontation with a fan, causing the AFL’s integrity officer to intervene.

‘I’m told the supporter was booing Taylor Walker and using some filthy language. Craig Walker did say to this supporter, ‘Taylor Walker is not a racist’,’ she said.

‘But when I spoke to Craig this afternoon, he pointed out that some of the language this man was using was absolutely disgusting.

‘He was using this language around young kids, around women and men who didn’t want to hear it — and I must say I’ve been at the footy recently and some of the language is just disgusting…. just fascinating to how nasty and heated it did get from one particular supporter that Craig Kelly felt moved to get involved.’

Despite the negative reception, Walker finished the game with four goals as Adelaide fell to a 103-99 defeat on Sunday.

Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes believes that it will not be the first time that Walker is greeted by boos when he travels the country this season.

‘I felt fine about it, I was expecting him to be booed. Of course he would’ve expected to be booed, he said one of the most vile things you can say to another human being.

‘There’s a line — and Caro spoke about vile language in the crowd — and we all understand where that line is. But if you’re a paid up footy supporter, you’re allowed to boo.

‘Collingwood booed Joel Selwood, people have been booing great players for different reasons for a long time, and I think he’ll continue to be booed.’
